Harry hadn't been to California in a long time. He hadn't even been planning to go to California anytime soon. It wasn't like he could go to Disneyland, not with how badly his magic wreaked havoc on technology. The last thing he wanted was to ruin the day for a bunch of families when real magic caused the Magic Kingdom to break down.
But, apparently there was something called a "Hellmouth" in a town in California and the Council was growing more and more concerned with it. Not only that but seemed to be drawing a lot of bad elements to the area, vampires and demons and the like. So Harry had been sent out to figure out what was going on. The Council didn't actually say it but he fell under the heading of "competent but expendable" and considering just how unpopular he was, if something happened to him not many people were going to lose sleep over it.
Technically he wouldn't even lose sleep over it considering he would be dead. So here he was, trying his best to look inconspicuous while lurking around a cemetery. It was not easy considering he was 6'9" and carrying around a big staff and giving off "I grew up partially on a farm" vibes with his jeans and flannel shirt but it wasn't like a lot of people were here at night. So far all he'd actually seen was a cute blonde girl about his own age on the other side of the property. That made him a little suspicious because in his experience small, very attractive women wandering around a cemetery at night tended to be either very dumb or a lot of trouble.
That was why after a while he decided that he should probably find her and keep an eye on her either to keep her from getting killed or from doing something horribly evil. His money was on horribly evil, no one was that cute/hot normally, right? Harry was just about to congratulate himself on identifying an evil mastermind when a vampire leaped out of the shadows to attack her. So she wasn't an evil mastermind but a victim then, but the vampire wasn't going to hurt the young woman if he had anything to say about it.
And what he was going to say about it was "Fuego!" A blast of fire shot from the end of his staff, slamming into the vampire and blasting it back away from the young woman. Harry had actually put a little too much "oomph" into the blast and had actually blown a hole into the vampire when he'd just wanted to distract it so it ignore the woman. It was probably going to be a little unhappy about it if it wasn't a lot dead already.

Date: 2024-04-07 06:16 am (UTC)She almost has to thank the universe or the Powers That Be for the vampire who finally decided to make her night interesting beyond Stalker Guy ( who she was definitely going to have words with, as soon as she was done with Undead Guy #1 ) but then it was poof. Over too soon. And not even the kind of poof she was used to but there was fire and some screaming from the vampire because vampires and fires were just as unmixy things as a staking or a beheading.
A pout crosses her features, just for a moment, before it twists into something more like outrage. Before she knows it, she's stomping over to this guy, her hands immediately going to her hips and okay - so - she has to look up a lot more than she's used to at this point and that only adds to her annoyance.
"What the hell was that? Were you trying to catch me on fire too? 'Cause newsflash: I'm not a vampire!" She's huffing and she's trying to figure out who this guy could be because he's not exactly hard to miss. She knows he's not from Sunnydale because most people like to pretend that all the supernatural activity from living on a Hellmouth are something entirely different. "Who are you and why are you following me?"

Date: 2024-04-08 02:23 am (UTC)Harry debated running off when the girl came storming over to him because despite his size he knew better than to underestimate an angry woman. And this young woman was really, really angry with him. The only reason he didn't run off was because that would look really suspicious and he didn't want to leave her alone after she just had a run in with a vampire.
When she started telling him off for just a moment he thought maybe he's be better off if he DID leave her. She was really angry at him for... saving her life?
"What are you talking about I only burned the monster. And I'm following you because you're wandering around in a cemetary at night, which is really dumb. And it's a good thing I was because I don't know if you noticed but you were about to be attacked by a vampire. Which, that should actually freak you out more than a guy saving you from one."
Harry didn't mean to get riled up but he couldn't help but match her energy with her being so upset. The small part of his brain that clearly did not care about survival pointed out that she looked even more attractive all riled up but he squashed that part down. So not the time for that.

Date: 2024-04-10 06:21 am (UTC)A moment later, she found herself rolling her eyes because why would the vampire freak someone out more than the actual fire that came her way because of the vampire? Buffy didn't know much about magic but she knew that was probably a magic thing and most of the magic she'd been around had a habit of getting all weird and sometimes going wrong ( sorry, Will ) so what if he accidentally caught her on fire?
"I was way more worried about the fire coming toward me, because I do not want to become barbeque'd Buffy. That's pretty much the lowest thing on the list of things I wanna do tonight or any other night." There's a beat after she said this and then she finds herself studying this guy as if he had some kind of sign on him that said whether or not he was all shifty and evil, trying to get one over on her too.
"Okay, so that's the why were you following me - and I had that handled, thank you very much - now for the 'who' are you?"
